Dec 30, 2006 - Now It All Begins
|
En Route
from Houston to New Orleans: Even though we have put hundreds
and hundreds of hours into the building of the Prophet Bus, we still
felt that we were a couple of months away from actually being able to
hit the road. And then, as we began talking about the end of
2006 and all the miracles that the Lord had done for us, that burning
feeling inside our hearts began to grow. |

Was this the time we were supposed to hit
the road? Even though the bus wasn't completely ready (or so we
thought), the Lord told us that this indeed was the time! There were
a few important things that we still needed, like the mattresses for the 9
bunks, all the bedding and the Prophet Bus signs that we needed to put on
the outside of the bus. That was two days ago. David got on
the phones and we found a company that cut the 3-inch foam a couple of
hours before closing for the holidays and a local sign company made the
magnetic signs for us. David and Devon decided to forgo the area New
Year's party and join us for the Maiden Voyage of the Prophet Bus.
And so, on the 30th day of December, 2006, the seven of us were off to New
Orleans to win as many souls to the Kingdom of God and disciples as we
could! |

We made our a
couple of stops on our way to New Orleans, finally leaving our base at
4:00 pm (about 6 hours behind schedule). Our first visitor on the
bus was a 30-year old guy by the name of Johnny, who broke down and wept,
pouring his heart out to us about how lost he was and how he was trying to
get his life on track. He prayed with us to receive Jesus and was
literally transformed before our very eyes. You'll meet him on our
first Prophet Bus DVD: "Maiden Voyage". We made one last stop in
Vider, Texas at about 9:00 pm and asked a few of the local restaurants if
they'd like to support our work with some food for our hungry team.
We took the camera into the first place, a "Wahtaburger" hamburger place.
The lady manager got pretty upset with the camera and told us that the
Baptist Church down the street would help us with food, if we were hungry.
Oh well. The KFC restaurant next door told us they'd help with a 25%
discount, but a man standing next to us in the restaurant pulled out some
cash and bought us a big bucket of chicken! God bless him! We popped
into the Chinese restaurant down the street and the Buddhist owner was
sweet enough to give us a couple of trays of Chinese food.
Meanwhile, Michelle and JP witnessed to the manager of the Subway, who put
together some great submarine sandwiches and soft drinks and we were on
our way! Where God guides, He supplies! By the end of our
mealtime, we were stuffed! |
